Solidarity with the African-American Community

Solidarity with the African-American Community

Painting by Brent Greenwood (Ponca/Chickasaw)

The Oscar Jacobson Foundation and the Jacobson House Native Art Center grieves and regrets the loss of life of George Floyd and too many others. We join our fellow tribal nations, Oklahomans, and the world community in denouncing racist violence. We support the recent peaceful protests against racism and unequal treatment of certain groups in our society.

These issues are complex, and it is not an easy time, yet we respectfully stand side-by-side with our fellow citizens highlighting the need for justice for all, regardless of racial, economic, or other backgrounds.

The foundation pledges to work in solidarity with local communities, Native nations and the State of Oklahoma to fight racism, bias, and police brutality that undermines justice and equality. The Oscar Jacobson Foundation encourages everyone to stand with us and honor those ideals of equality and principles of justice.
